My New Placement

Ive found out that i have a new placement!
Its going to be with community recreation. I cant wait!
I will be placed with them every wednesday, thursday and friday from the 1st of febuary. The other 2 days will be either at SCVS (when ive got training) and with Menter Iaith.
Even though im really enjoying my placement with Menter Iaith i do need to move on to gain more experience.

My Progress

I was thinking the other day about how much my work has progressed over the last couple of months. Ill be the first one to put my hand up and say that it took me a while to really get into the work but I pulled my socks up, put my head down and really worked hard to make up for it. But that's not the reason why I'm blogging.
This morning I asked Siwan if we could have a meeting, not about my work but about me and the way that I approach and my attitude to the work. The reason I wanted this meeting is because that Siwan has been so busy this month, we haven't really had a chance to talk about my development. I'm really glad that I asked because even though that lots of it was positive, there was one or two things that Siwan had noticed, so we had a chat about it and now I'm working harder on these areas to improve myself even further and become a community development worker.

For those of you that don't know what I'm doing I've created a folder full of details about businesses and voluntary organisations in the community first areas. These details include how many staff are employed, if there are any welsh speakers, phone numbers, addresses and so on. If any one would like some of these details just let me know and ill do my best to help you out.

The next step of the project is to put all of the information I have gathered on the net. I'm currently trying to design a website where all of this information will be accessible to everyone. Please throw ideas at me about what makes a good web site and what doesn't. I want the site to be as user friendly as possible.

Christmas dinner

Its been a while but im finally blogging again. The reason for this is that yesterday, the 7th, Ty Tawe put on a good spread for all the tutors and the learners. All of the food was prepared and cooked by volunteers and theres even some left over. 100 people attended all within 2 hours, all squeezing onto 1 floor.
The dinner went very well. someone said to me that it was like a duck on water,on the surface it looks all calm and effortless but under the surface the ducks paddeling like mad! thats how i felt.

i wasn't expecting that

thankyou to everyone who has put the time in to suggest some new games. i really wasnt expecting this many responses in a short space of time. this proves to me that the blog really is working as a working tool aswell as a place to express my feelings. Brilliant

As some of you know im working on Welsh language games to take mainly to English as well as Welsh schools to teach children Welsh through having fun and play.
If anyone has any ideas for games that could be used please let me know as im always thinking of new ideas.

Presentation

Yesterday, being the 1st of November, i finally did my presentation. I was feeling really nervous before hand and was hopping that i wouldn't mess it up. I was even considering doing the whole thing in Welsh so that if i messed up, no one would notice.
It got off to a great start by someone pointing out that i had made a spelling mistake! (thanks D) apart from that it felt like it was over in a flash. to my own suprise i managed to remember what the bullet point were and when i wasn't sure i double checked with my notes. after i finished i felt releaved that it was over and the feedback i recieved was really positive and that made me feel even better.
i can now understand why the other trainees were nervous before doing their presentations.
im so glad thats over.

I only speak English and Welsh but Pays de Galle means the country Wales not the language. Gallois is Welsh. But then again you probably already know this.
